This may just be THE book!,
This review is from: The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment (Hardcover)
Eckhart Tolle's message isn't new. His book is meant to point us toward enlightenment,
and thus his teachings aren't much different than that of Buddhism. But the way this book SPEAKS...
I've been reading "Power of Now" slooowly, over the past week and a half.
I'm nearly finished with it, and plan on starting again on page one when I'm done.
This may be the ONE book that you've been looking for... it's that good.
You can FEEL the essence of Tolle's message while you read. The book BREATHES with spiritual insight.
As you read, you just KNOW that what Tolle says is "the truth."
In reading the book, meditating, and practicing these principles in everyday life,
I've noticed in myself an increased ability to be "fully present" in the world and STAY THERE.
This is the experience I've been wanting for many years.
I've been waking up each morning in a peaceful mood...
I think, while sleeping, I've been integrating the lessons I've learned!
Be here now... it's the only place and time to be.

OK - you've felt great after 1 1/2 weeks, now it is 9 years. No pun intended, but what say you now?

yea i agree with the other comment on this, you prolly felt good because you just finished the book, after awhile tho the high you get from this new concept wears off and it means little to nothing

Yeah I'm interested in knowing how you've gotten along during the years. And be honest. (My guess is "time" caught up and reared its ugly non-now head now and then.)

Marc Allen says:
I've been reading THE POWER OF NOW slowly since 1999.... It never gets old or worn; it never sounds cliche. It is, in my opinion, one of the greatest spiritual books ever written, and I will continue to read it and reflect on its deeply profound words for the rest of my life.
I spent about 18 months on this quote from page 155 of the hardcover: "To offer no resistance to life is to be in a state of grace, ease, and lightness." For the last few years, I've been stuck on this phrase from page 156 -- it's brilliant enough to be all I need to know this lifetime, all I need to know to live and to die in grace, ease, and lightness:
"The happiness that is derived from some secondary source is never very deep. It is only a pale reflection of the joy of Being, the vibrant peace you find within as you enter the state of nonresistance."
Great words to ponder. Be in peace.

I agree with Marc, I have had the Power of Now for months and I bought practicing the Power of Now and I was ready for it, It is a practice, not something to look forward to in 9 years as someone put it, it is a way of life, of not allowing the thinking mind to have control of you and pain-body and ego to have control, I have been transformed in my thinking, or lack thereof is a better way to express, I was able to get rid of negative habitual patterns of behavior and thinking that I held on to for almost 49 years! I know it works and I also know that it will continue to work because who would want to revert back to that? once you have awakened there is no going back. I think only those that are not open to it, not ready to release their pain body or ego are the ones that have the negative opinions. It will hopefully come to you.
