Fan of the franchise,

This review is from: Far Cry 3 - PC (DVD-ROM)
I have been a fan of the Far Cry series since the first one came out on PC, and I was so excited that they continued on from Far Cry 2 from Africa (which I really did like a lot), to Far Cry 3; back to the island setting. I have really taken to this game and will play it likely a couple of more times through. It has minor issues here and there, but none that pop into mind at this time, because I am more excited about recommending it for it's great qualities, which are many, than it's flaws. The flaws are minor enough that if you want to read other reviews where people care enough to mention them, for it. You can also check out reviews by prominent online game websites.
Be aware, this is a system hog for processor and GPU power, but as picky as I am on graphics, I had a really good result with this game with a 6 or 7 year old +- Intel e6600 dual core processor and 460 GTX video card and 4 GB of RAM. I am still surprised that it ran as well as it has, but I wouldn't recommend running it on much less. It really was a good experience even on that older system though; so again, I was quite impressed at what you could play on the older rig I had been using. Decent framerates at high and very high settings (but DX9 best to use over DX11 though to keep framerates as decent as they were). Just keep in mind, the video card is what saved it though. I highly recommend the video card (MSI 1GB OC edition), but anything higher is my better recommendation, if it's within your budget to do so.
Anyway, I really do recommend this game. Fun to run an gun, fun to explore and hunt, and has enough of a story to keep going; it's not an amazing story though, but I don't mind. Sidequests and missions are great fun, and I didn't get bored of them because of the pretty good range of things to do and see in this VERY open world / sandbox game. I think that most shooter fans would agree, and most do agree. Read the majority of reviews and see for yourself and then go play! I am about to right now.
