5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great, August 14, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Adapter HDMI EPL 3FHU for Samsung Galaxy s3 (Accessory)
The product works really well. I suggest purchasing a Bluetooth keyboard as well. By simply plugging in the HDMI adapter (you will need to borrow your micro SD phone charger that came with the phone to power the adapter)to an HDMI cable you can either plug it into a television or an HDMI port in a computer at work.

I work in an office where I don't like to do personal business on my work computer. As such, I use my phone, the HDMI adapter, a Bluetooth keyboard and I can simply switch input to do internet work (like paying bills, banking or checking email on a large monitor) without worrying about workplace oversight.

*Definite must have to operate this device is a micro SD powercord (that came with your Samsung phone to charge it) and an HDMI cable. Without these devices you can't use it.
* Suggested devices to purchase include a bluetooth keyboard. Please be advised that a bluetooth keyboard is not the same as a wireless keyboard.
Great device.

Hi, Because the S3 also support USB OTG (On The Go) it is possible to plug a USB keyboard and mouse into the S3 using a USB hub connected to the S3 via a USB OTG cable connected to the S3's micro USB port (its actually quite cool: connect the mouse and a mouse pointer appears on the S3 screen!).

Anyway, I'm wondering if you have a USB OTG cable and could try simultaneous HDMI out and mouse input in?

Here's the USB OTG cable I have:

Call me thick if you want, but I'm confused - do you need a splitter cable so you can plug in both this adaptor and a charger? I mean - the phone's only got 1 micro-USB hookup...
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Update - never mind, I searched Youtube and saw that the adaptor has a plug-in for a power cord. I didn't see that on the Amazon pics. Thanks anyway!

I don't blame you, it is a bit confusing. In short, the adaptor plugs into the micro-USB slot from the phone (male end). The other end has a female HDMI adaptor and that goes from the TV to the adaptor. Because the phone does not have enough power to push the signal to the TV, there is a micro-USB slot on the adaptor that you need to plug in to the wall. Does that help?

Could you do me a quick favor? I would like to know if keeps the phone charged. The old cable for the s2 gave the phone a charge, but not enough, and it would slowly die. Could you possibly install a battery monitor app and let me know what the mA charge rate is when you have it plugged in and sending video? I use the following app. Thanks.

At the very least, an S2 OTG cable will NOT run external devices nor provide power to an S3. Probably the 11 pin issue. (I just made that mistake myself :( ... now to buy an S3 OTG cable...)

I am not sure that that would work.
You are using the port out of the S3 to get to a USB connector.
But, you are also using that connector to go to HDMI connector.
From the connector you list, it seems you would need to plug into that hub a USB to FEMALE S3 connector (which I have never seen exists).
You would end up needing to have: your cable listed, the above cable, the USB hub, the power supply, the USB hub to female S3, and both the devices you list.

Go to know about the cable you listed working with a hub. I have only tried it with memory sticks. The 8 GB worked, the 32 GB did not.
