5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect no frills bathroom scale - Accurate, reliable and good looking, December 11, 2008
This review is from: EatSmart™ Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology (Health and Beauty)
Length:: 2:50 Mins

Update (3/22/10) - The company was nice enough to send me an updated version of this scale with their step on feature. Ill hopefully be updating my video shortly, but long story short there is no more tapping to activate and calibrate the scale. You just step on and get your readings. Otherwise its basically the same accurate, consistent scale it has been for the last year and a half.

Original Review - I think my title says it all. I own other EatSmart products so I bought this scale with confidence. Its a no-frills bathroom scale with one user that is accurate and easy to use.

Operating is easy. You tap the glass to wake the scale up and step on....no wasted time setting up users (which my last scale had) or programming weight loss goals. The scale reads out to the nearest .2 pounds, which is a nice feature when you are trying to gain confidence and hit short term weight loss goals (every little bit counts to me). More importantly its CONSISTANT, which means I get the same reading every time I step on and off the scale. Nothing was more infuriating than weighing myself, stepping off, re-weighing myself and seeing a completely different number (by as much as 5 lbs!). EatSmart seems to have solved this problem quite nicely.

Style-wise I have no complaints....the glass top is much better looking than the stainless steel I have previously and it doesn't make nearly as much noise when stepped on. The thinner profile also keeps me low to the ground so I worry less about slippage after a shower (plus with the larger LCD I'm not hunched over to read it).

A must have investment for anyone looking to lose weight.

I just received my scale and it seems extremely accurate and consistant and very reasonable on Amazon. Unlike the video, after tapping my foot, my scale just displays "8888" and goes directly to "0.0", it doesn't display "4.4" or "Err". So far I love it and would strongly recommend this scale.

Thanks for the very clear video explanation of how to calibrate and use the scale. But my bathroom is small. I keep the scale out of the way and set it out to use it, in the same place every time. Does that mean I would have to recalibrate it every time?

J. Rogers says:
Yes, it needs to be recalibrated every time if the scale turns on. If you can move it without the scale turning on then its no problem. Just get it on the ground and weigh yourself.

This scale is a little different than most scales in that it gives you the 4.6 lbs and ERR. Most digital scales would just give you a first reading that was 4.6 lbs (or whatever the weight of that scale is) too heavy. My old Thinner would tell me I was 165 lbs the first time I got on it and then 161 a minute later. Personally I think its the reason people find this one to be so accurate.

thanks for posting this video, i was about to throw it in the dumpster. i don't know why it has to be so complicated to calibrate it since i don't always leave it in one spot.

there's a tiny switch on the back to change from lbs to kgs.
