This review is from: Strawberry Shortcake Playset - Berry Cafe (Toy)
To a "marketing mom" such as myself, I have to sit back and wonder how many focus groups and/or research and development this toy went through. It is not very well thought out or put together. My main complaint is everything is too small making it difficult to use. The bed is too small for the dolls to lie on. The car is too small making it hard to get Strawberry Shortcake in it. Then the seatbelt is too short to fasten easily. The house is too small, especially the bottom floor, to easily put the kitchen pieces in and play with. Only the tiniest of hands could possibly play in there! The accessories such as the basket and cups do not fit on Strawberry Shortcake's hand. The hat is too small and does not fit on Strawberry Shortcake's head. I could go on and on... My three year old is very frustrated with this toy, but it was a Christmas present so I can't give it away.
The only thing I like about this toy is the strawberry smell that takes me back in time. Hopefully, the designer will read this and go back to the drawing board!!!

Zoomer's Mom says:
I agree totally with Marketing Mom on the r/d aspects of this toy. Sure the food-serving pieces are small but that's just the start of it. My daughter has a good imagination when it comes to playing with "house" toys and making up her own story lines but although she enjoyed the looks of this toy, she kept saying, "Things are not going well here." The kitchen is definitely too small for the furniture and especially for little hands to reach in for play; the trays of food are very difficult to get in and out of the stove; the hat won't stay on the doll's head and, for that matter, why even include a doll if she's too big to fit on the bed or sit in the chairs? All in all, a very frustrating toy. Perhaps SSB is only supposed to be the salesperson at the Cafe but tell that to a 4 yr old who is trying to get SSB to sit in a chair. Better r/d and a few improvements could make this a great toy. Would be interesting to hear from all the same reviewers after their children had played with it for a month - and lost all those cute pieces.
