Disappointed, so disappointed,
This review is from: Hold Me (Kindle Edition)
There's a difference between determined and brave and just plain stupid, and unfortunately, heroine Katie crosses the line in this romantic suspense. Though the book started so promising with fast dialogue, witty hero/heroine interactions, steamy, steamy passion and some fun car chases, the plot became increasingly frustrating as the book neared its end.
Katie transforms from spunky and smart to clichéd and "I want to push you off a cliff" stupid, rushing into danger with no combat training, skills, or logic because she just needs to participate. She puts everyone in danger and by doing so turns herself into a damsel in distress, which is sadly not empowering or even remotely dramatic. Furthermore, she then has an internal rant asking why everyone thinks she's stupid...um Katie, sweetie, maybe it's because right now you are.
So I was very disappointed. I started out really loving this new Carina release, and ended with me literally throwing my e-reader across the bed in angst and ranting to my roommate. That said, I do think the author has promise and definite talent. She just needs a smarter heroine who understands that being stubborn does not equal being empowered.
