Better than a box fan,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Holmes HAWF3095-U Dual Blade Twin Window Fan with Accutemp Plus (Kitchen)
I got this to replace a box fan my husband insisted on putting in our bedroom window each night during the summer, even though we have air conditioning. We are fortunate to live in a dry climate where it cools off at night, even when it's in the 100's during the day. This fan is quiet and blocks light and sound from the outside fairly well. Also, the thermostat turns it off when the temperature falls below a preset value (ours is set at 60F). Now I don't wake up freezing in the middle of the night. It is very light and easy to take in and out of the window. The lowest fan speed is more than adequate and quiet enough so that it doesn't keep me awake. A few details are not clear in the product description. The maximum width with the extender panel and extender screen fully extended is 35". The fan is designed to be used with a screen in the window; it fits in our windows which have about 2.5" between the front of the window track and the screen. The power cord comes out of the center of the unit and is about 5 feet long. This only thing that would make it perfect is if you could also set a maximum temperature for it to turn off at. This fan is such a huge improvement over the old box fan that I'm very pleased with it.
