Excellent all around flashlight,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've had my E2D LED Defender for about a year now and I'm very happy with it. After a year, I'm still on my first set of batteries and original bulb (note - I carry this often but use it only periodically, so your battery mileage may vary).
This is an excellent flashlight. It's light and compact enough to carry often, will slip into a pocket (including jeans with small pockets). Fit and finish and the overall 'feel' of the surefire is excellent. The light is EXTREMELY bright, and having the option of a less bright light (to use less battery power) is a huge plus. The 5 lumens mode is fine for most situations where you need a little illumination, and the 120 lumens provides the option of a truly bright light. I carry this often as a light, but also as a concealable impact weapon given the scalloped bezel and extremely bright light. I.e., if jogging at night, this is a great thing to carry for both a practical light and a defensive weapon, though note it would not be very useful against dogs.
4 stars - great product, I can't give it 5 stars because of the ridiculous price (other manufacturers such as Fenix make excellent lights at better prices, but overall the Surefire does offer fit and finish that I haven't encountered in other lights plus the scalloped bezel).

Fenix may be priced better but Surefire is made in the USA!! That should mean a lot to keeping americans working.

IS this the current model? Specs say it puts out 200 not 120 Lumens. I have a older version that is 120 and not LED. Looking for more light.

I wrote this review back in '09 and refers to the 120 LED. I now have both, the 200 is noticeably brighter though both are extremely bright. Fit and finish and build quality are excellent on both.

I own this light- the 200 lumen version- and I love it. I use it daily. I have also purchased many Fenix lights for others including family and employees. Though I respect the Fenix lights because of their price and reasonable quality you CAN NOT compare a Fenix with a Sure Fire. All you have to do is hold two comparable (in specs) lights one in each hand. The SF is much heavier and much more durable. My SF has been dropped, kicked, painted, etc. and it keeps going. If you are looking for a cheap good light, buy a Fenix. If you are looking for a light that will never fail you, invest in a Surefire.
