Questions for myself.,
This review is from: How to Read a Poem (Paperback)
I really wanted to revise my high school learning about the reason and the rationale of poetry. Why does it appeal? Does that appeal come from within the poet or from something in the brain that likes rhythm and balance and a clear framework around what we read? I liked the section on literary criticism (particularly useful for me at the moment with the PhD glaring over my shoulder in the bathroom mirror every morning) and I liked the analysis of types of verse and I always love glossaries and indexes. A valuable and enjoyable text.
