broke within 3 weeks,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PNY A-DM-HD-W01 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter (Electronics)
worked fine for a couple weeks, then stopped working. i'm very cautious with my electronics. the connector works fine, and the hdmi cable is not the issue. the adapter does not transmit the signal. i realized after some messing around that i can get the signal to pass if i squeeze the adapter with my hands. the connectors are too loose to carry the signal. upset i cant get a full refund. ive had issues with PNY accessories before...should have known better this time.

You misunderstood. The connectors fit fine, no force used.
The issue is that no signal would be passed. It was defective and poorly made. I noticed that I could get a signal to pass when the hdmi connector was squeezed, while already connected to the hdmi cord. The conclusion is that the item was built poorly/loosely, and not tight enough to make contact with the hdmi cord that was already plugged into it.

I've now gone through many of these adapters. All the teachers I've worked with have gone through multiple adapters. They all fail because they are poorly made. The flexible cord is likely the fault. I've been hot gluing wooden splints to these things-so the cord never moves or is pulled, and they still fail (even with almost no movement) I've yet to find any similar adapter, Apple or other, that doesn't eventually fail. USB, Cat-5, Firewire seem to work forever; every Apple video output connector since SVGA fails.

I've been using a Belking adapter - it hasn't failed me yet! It's white and the hdmi side is a bit rounded/oval. So good so far.
