Interesting but not memorable,
This review is from: DEADLIGHT [Download] (Software Download)
I bought the game back when it was $7.50 and even then I feel that it wasn't entirely worth the money.
Story: It was alright. A diary of the main character is given which is filled with a lot of content which shows a lot of the background about his motivations and goals. The actual plot is serviceable to continue the game, but it didn't make a real connection for me to care about what happens to the characters within.
Gameplay: a fine platformer with a lot of traversing past obstacles. The environments are varied and it's fun to plan out your next move
Sound: the game is atmospheric and the music is pretty good. I especially like how eerie the main theme sounds and it is great.
Graphics: very nice, traveling through cities and more the environments are detailed and it is quite nice.
Length: It took me around only 4 hours to complete and even then I wasn't satisfied with what I played by the end of it.
Controls:(I used a xbox controller) generally clunky to perform some of the more challenging tasks within the game. some parts required fast action and you can't do anything while animations slowly finish which you then inevitable die. There was really only 1 place in the game where it took more than a few retries but other times the game is trial and error as it doesn't tell you how a trap works until you are already dead from it.
Overall: Not the greatest game for its price but it does have a few parts that are enjoyable. Stay away from it unless it is on sale for a super cheap price. It ran smoothly on my pc but graphical options aren't very well defined within the game. It has a more difficult mode to play after completing it with a different ending but the game simply isn't good enough to play more than once.
