My last gaming headset was a good one, but standard in sound (stereo). This one literally stunned me as I tried it out first in Skyrim. I was walking down a street in the game and stopped because I heard water running below me, here it turns out I was standing on a sewer grate of sorts. I'd been over that spot before with the speakers on and a headset too - but never heard that water and it was so clear with this headset it was crazy. Honestly after you have them on for a while, the sound is so immersive that you feel like the sound is all around you and not just coming from the headset - it's a very different but great experience.
Since I've had it I have tried it with a few games, and I was especially happy to find out that the 3D aspects of it work with pretty much everything - in particular with Skyrim as mentioned before but also with Star Wars The Old Republic. I didn't expect that good of sound from an online game for some reason but I've been playing and have on several occasions been able to prepare myself for a "bad guy" coming up behind me because I heard them with this headset. I never would have known where the sound was coming from otherwise.
All in all this is definitely a 5-star product. It's so comfortable that you forget it's on. If I had any thing negative to say at all it would only be that the microphone (which by the way is removeable so if you want to use it only for sound and not for voice you don't have to worry about it being in the way!) has a cushion cover that comes off very easily. I've had to look around for it a couple of times now - I figure I'll just get a piece of double-sided scotch tape or something to put under it to keep it there. But you sound just as good without it as with it - I've tested it with online friends.
Last, the software for this device is pretty cool as well. I like the ability to change the sound of my voice, but I don't know if I'd ever use it really. Some of them are silly, but others - like the old man one for example - sound great!
For the record, I am running Windows 7 on my PC and it works great on there once you load the drivers. No problems with it whatsoever and even the cord is so easy to deal with since it's a ribbon cord and doesn't tangle like others can and do.
