2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with this Pamelas product, February 11, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pamela's Products Gluten Free Frosting Mix, Vanilla, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I am surprised to be writing that I am disappointed in a Pamela's product having always been a fan. When the frostings came out I was excited to have a convenient source of frosting in a pinch. The directions were easy, the prep a breeze but the final product fell short. The frosting was too sweet with an overpowering vanilla taste-and I love vanilla. I would have to say the vanilla tasted artificial since it was so strong. I make a beautiful vanilla buttercream and although I did not expect a final product of this caliber, I expected better than what I tasted. Skip this product and take a few extra minutes to make your own.

I am a health counselor with clients who have celiac issues. Would you be willing to share your recipe for buttercream frosting with me, please? One never knows until they ask! Thanks!

I too would like to have your vanilla buttercream recipe. I'm always searching for a buttercream frosting that includes shortening. Thank you...

I'm confused. Wouldn't any homemade buttercream frosting be gluten free?

In reply to an earlier post on Jul 7, 2011 8:06:00 PM PDT
Not always, as there are numerous & different ingredients used so many recipes. What people are also wanting is the frosting to be "Dairy" free. It is because so many of us have multiple food allergies & sensitivities. I have a long list of both allergies & sensitivities. My son has 14 food allergies. He is highly allergic to dairy, egg & soy. We both are very "Sensitive" to gluten, therefore I strive to keep gluten @ a very low minimum in our home.
