Lightweight & Comfortable,
I bought these boots for work where I do a lot of walking on concrete. They felt broke-in right out of the box, except for the ankle shaft. That took a couple days to limber up, but they feel great now. I got the D width, which was plenty wide enough for the bunion on my right foot. These boots are wider than most D widths I've tried. I wear a size 11 and they fit true to size. I have a medium arch and the insole gives just the right amount of support. I also appreciate the cushioning of the insoles, just right without feeling squishy. As another customer noted, these boots are incredibly light, almost like a pair of athletic shoes, but that doesn't mean they lack quality. They are very well-made and well worth the money.

Are the soles made from the same fast-wearing but lightweight foam stuff I remember on the Rockports I've worn in years past?

I've been wearing these boots to work every day for a couple months and they show a minimum amount of wear. The soles are lightweight but not foam. They do make a little squeaking noise when you're walking, but I think that's from the insoles.
