Excellent picture for 1 month. Then a customer service nightmare.,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Asus VH242H 23.6-Inch Full-HD LCD Monitor with Integrated Speakers (Electronics)
The monitor had a very nice picture for the month that it was functioning. When it went black suddenly, I was sent into the ASUS Customer Service abyss. All phone calls seemed to send me back to the website... which was useless. I finally managed to get an RMA and sent the monitor back at my cost. After 5 weeks with no email or calls as to the status of the monitor, I finally received my supposedly repaired monitor back. Blacks are red. The picture quality is terrible with ghosting and flickering everywhere. Clearly nobody even looked at the monitor after "repairing" it.
I will seek a refund and will never purchase ASUS products again.

I am in desperate need of a good monitor to use with my laptop, but thanks to these comments I will go to another brand! Don't need the problems described.

Thanks for the warning. I refuse to do business with companies that will not set up decent customer service.

purchased this monitor July 26, 2009 and today is July 25 and this monitor is dead - gray lines through it. one day away from a year of use. can't decide whether to try the service dept or simply not purchase anything from this company again.... we need a monitor now - not 5 weeks from now.

Why didn't you return it or exchange it in the first place if you only used it a month?

Amazon wouldn't take the monitor back past 30 days. They sent me to ASUS Support. After ASUS sent me the broken "repaired" unit, they also wouldn't give me a refund, so I went through the repair process AGAIN and received a unit that seemed to work. By that point, I had long since purchased a Samsung monitor.

LG has crappy customer service too. After sending "techs"(I use the term loosely) to my house 4 times over 3 months. It was the guys at 6thAVE. Electronics that convinced LG to swap a new 50" set. Phillips, a company that makes relatively cheap stuff has excellent US based customer service.
