Very good accessory for BlackRapid -- Package contains 2 pieces,
This review is from: BlackRapid Lockstar - Connectr Swivel Hook Cover (Camera)
I accidentally ordered 5 of these for use on 5 BlackRapid straps (2 single straps, a handstrap and the double strap) only to find out each package includes 2 pieces. With that said, I would have paid the same price even if only 1 were included.
The Lockstar connects to the R-Strap carabiner and locks in place - it's made of a sturdy plastic that swings open/closed on the carabiner and can "lock" the carabiner shut when it's threaded shut.
The benefit of this is to provide additional security for the R-Strap as the threaded lock on the carabiner tends to unthread itself over the course of the day (which could result in the carabiner opening and the camera slipping off and onto the ground).
The product looks good while in use -- it doesn't look out of place or too much like an aftermarket part.. it's very light (but strong) and doesn't add unnecessary bulk. It holds somewhat tight in place, and as a "backup" piece I feel more comfortable with it (as I would often look down and see the threading had undone itself with the carabiner itself)
With all that said, most believe the "weak point" of the R-Strap system is in the screw-threading itself (that connects to the camera). If that becomes unscrewed (which isn't too hard to do if walking around), the camera itself will drop, whether or not you're using the lockstar. The lockstar prevents the carabiner from opening.
If you are more concerned about the camera unthreading itself, look into the Black Rapid Tether Kit. This includes a "safety cable" which locks onto the cameras metal clip (left side of the camera) on one end and provided a 2nd attachment to the carabiner on the other end. If the camera unthreads itself, the "safety tether" will still be attached and can save the camera from falling to the ground. I ended up purchasing both the tether/safety kit and the lockstar.
