This review is from: Spice and Wolf, Vol. 3 (Manga) (Paperback)
This manga concludes what happens during the first book, with a bit of the second book at the end. They continue to stay true to the book and don't follow the minor changes the anime made. I think this is due to the fact the author is handling the story for this manga series, so this will be the closest representation to the novels that we will get.
The character development is important in this section of the manga and it's brought to life wonderfully. You get to see what Holo and Kraft would do for one another when times get tough and that they make a great traveling pair.
While this wasn't in the books or anime, we get a back story of Norah and how she ends up where she is in the second book. As I said before the author is writing the story for the manga, he can add new story elements that end up being exclusive to the media he is working on, while staying true to the original books at the same time. I really hope more scenes like this get added in the future.
The art is still amazingly drawn and looks like the anime, with its own flair added to the character creation. Like the previous copies, they do a good job in recreating the scenes from the anime/books and make you feel like you're actually there.
I will still continue to recommend people to pick up this series. It's a really well crafted manga that stays true to its origins. This is the one series I will continue to buy, each and every time a new book gets released and I hope others do as well. The story of Holo and Kraft's troubles is really entertaining and seeing how a merchant solves his problems is naturally written and feels legit.
