The Fishing Game I've Been Hoping For!!!,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Fishing Resort with Fishing Rod Controller - Nintendo Wii (Video Game)
I have had this game for three days now and I can't quit! This is by far the best fishing game I have played since PS1's Reel Fishing. The freedom to roam around such large areas, fish anywhere there is water, or just enjoy the other activities like fishing contests, boat and kayak races, and other ones I have yet to unlock, but can't wait until I do. I bought the bundle because I had a gift card at the time, but I do not use the rod attachment because it is REALLY big and limits the movement you need so I don't recomend the rod bundle. Other than that fishing is easy yet challenging, took a while to get lure fishing down, but now I'm a pro, and the greatest thing is the multitude of fish at each area means never knowing what you'll catch unlike other fishing games where you knew you would only find one species in each area. I love it, and truthfully if not for this game my Wii would still be collecting dust.

I am not a fisher, but I think this game would be fun for me and my family. However after reading most of the Wii fishing bundle reviews, it seems as if the rod is flimsy. My question is, if I were to buy just the game, would the game be as much fun and realistic using just the regular Wii remote. Or is the game a better experience with the pole, or is the pole indeed "crap".

Yes the game is better without the rod. The rod is clunky, and I find I have better control with just the wiimote and nunchuck, especially when trolling and lure fishing.

Thank you for your input. I want to get this for my family, and heard nothing good about the rod. Thank you again.
