Easy set up, fun to use,
This review is from: Philips AEA7100/17 StarMaker Wireless Bluetooth Portable Speaker & Wireless Karaoke Mic for iPad (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program (What's this?)
This is easy to set up, right out of the box. Put the 3-AAA batteries (supplied) into the microphone, plug in the power cord, dock your iPad and go. Once you turn it on, you will be prompted to download the Starmaker app from the app store, and you will be able to pair the mic with Bluetooth.
The tutorial in the app runs you through how it all works and gets you started.
A few things you should know: Getting songs to sing along with will cost you. You pay in tokens or with a subscription. The subscription runs $1.99 for a week or $24.99 for six months. Some tokens come with the app, so you can get a song or two. You earn more tokens by using the app.
The dock has a 30-pin connector, so the newest iPads do not connect to it. Earlier models do. I was also able to connect my iPhone 4, but the app did not seem to work well with it and I didn't have the patience to try to make it work.
You can use this as a dock to play music by docking a 30-pin Apple device or plugging just about any audio device into the audio in jack in the back of the speaker. (No cable is included, so you would need to supply that.) The mic only seems to work when you are using the app.
This would be fun at your next party, or as a gift your budding rock star would enjoy. Keep in mind that at this price you are not getting a top of the line karaoke machine, but it is a good value for the money.
The sound is good, and you can record yourself with the app. The app also includes auto tune, the magic software Hollywood uses to make it sound like actors can sing. ;o)
