The book CHINESE SHAMANIC COSMIC ORBIT QIGONG by Master Zhongxian Wu is a very good book on Qigong. The book has a lot of calligraphy and black ink paintings to highlight the text. It is organized into a series of meditations, explained in terms of breathing, visualizations, posture, and movements. Many Chinese Taoist terms are explained along the way to give a feeling for what is needed in each of these meditations. The words are explained to help in cultivating the right attitude behind the practices. There is an appendix that summarizes the book for quick reference. The paintings are beautiful enough so that I would not mind having them framed and mounted on my wall. They remind me some of the Reiki calligraphy for Dai Ko Myo and Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen which I also appreciate (from another energy healing tradition that I have studied).
The book does not have photos to describe the practices. This is something that I usually consider a weakness, but this book has some delightful ink drawings instead and good verbal descriptions. Even if you are involved in another variation of Qigong, you may still wish to read this book, because it gives a good feeling for the inner flavor of the practice.
