Great with limitations,
This review is from: Yaktrax Pro Traction Cleats for Snow and Ice (Apparel)
I live in lake effect snow country (upper Michigan) and have two large dogs who get a lot of walking. Over the years, I've tried various products, including the Yaktrax regular and Yaktrax pro. I would not recommend the Yaktrax regular as they fall off (I used to tie them on which worked OK).
Yaktrax are great in terms of their coil traction system -- even when I hit glare ice, I slide a bit and catch myself - I never fall. They are by far best with a little snow base to dig into. I've used them with snowshoes (because I had to walk a ways to get to where I was snowshoeing) and, on a limited basis, indoors. I dedicate a pair of shoes to my Yaktrax all winter as they take some effort to get on and off, so I like to just leave them on.
The problems are: 1) even with the velcro strap they occasionally come off -- not too big a deal, just check to make sure they are secure every time you put your shoes on, 2) the real problem is that the rubber straps that come up around the edge of your shoe are fragile - in other words, the part with no coiled metal. I've been using a new pair about 1 month and already 1 rubber strap on each one has broken (I repaired them with metal twist ties), and 3) they are hard to get on and off.
So, I'm switching to some other kind that is less fragile and easier to take on and off. However, with all that said, perhaps especially if you aren't using them daily or multiple times daily, they do give you excellent traction - generally, when you wear them you don't have to worry about slip and fall at all which is wonderful.
