This review is from: Excuse Me, Miss (EMM Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Phillip Thomas Duck knows how to write. "Excuse Me, Miss" pulled me in from the first sentence, exciting and colorful; it reminded me of opening a new box of crayons, a 64 pack. The vividness of the sounds and smells put me there with the characters. The dialogue is crisp, clean and real. Duck's command and artistry of words is as engaging as Victoria Frost, the "sexy decoy" whose job is to reveal the truth of a husband's trustworthiness. Although I'm usually more drawn to stories of young adults (Dirty Jersey and Dirty South), it is the author's ability to portray real human emotions and imperfect behaviors and relationships that carries throughout all his writing. I was caught by surprise in EMM. Duck understands the elements of keeping a reader going and utilizes those techniques to the fullest. Forgiving and learning is what it's really all about. A read that can make you reflect upon your own life imperfections, and the power of growth and change.
