Dropping connection (maybe due to firmware build) - Comcast,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Linksys DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (DPC3008-CC) (Personal Computers)
Had I found this comcast forum post at[...] , I would not have bought DPC3008.
Cisco DPC3000 worked fine earlier. Now, I have no support for resolving dropped connection issue with this DPC3008. Comcast keeps resetting and tells no log of any disconnection activity. Cisco on the other hand is not telling what is with the firmware that people are talking on the Comcast forum. Both companies need to figure out the fix to this problem soon.
UPDATE [April 18 2012]: Comcast reverted back the firmware build date to Aug 11 2011 and it fixed the dropping connection issue. Definitely, this would change my opinion on the product to excellent.

are you still having issues? I have a 4 year old link sys modem and want to upgrade to the new docsis 3, but there are a lot of people complaining about dropped signal. Just wanted to see if it's still an issue with yours. Thanks.

Not anymore. Looks like firmware upgrade from Comcast dated "Jan 31 2012" caused it. You can check this by going to 192.168.100.1 . I found Comcast somehow reverted back to "Aug 11 2011" either because of complaints etc. or messages on their online forum. It is giving a very good performance and not drop connections anymore.
