To Be A Fan of Prince,
This review is from: Musicology (Audio CD)
It ain't easy I tell you!
In short - if you believe this is first album prince has launched since, say, "Symbol" (or even "The Rainbow Children") you're not a good candidate for this album!
Prince, for the longest time produced music only for the most devout and to his fans, he has produced one masterpiece after another - and that is true if you have been following the Artist for a long time - but it's easy to see why not every one will agree.
I am a fan of Prince, and I have never disliked a single song by him. There's always one or the other thing about the song that makes it exceptional - the lyrics, the music, or just his voice.
Musicology is no exception - every song has something to offer. I keep playing "A Million Years" over and over just because the vocals are so outstanding in the song, and "Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance" is my second favorite for it comes with the familiar playfulness of several of Prince's songs.
If you like Prince, have experienced his music in the past and are familiar with his style - you are going to love this album. Though not his best yet - this record is a very worthy addition to his discography.
On the other hand, if you are just a casual Prince listener - try to get some of his older records before approaching this one. You like is so much better then.
