Unfortunately I did not love this book like some of the other reviewers. Lots of people wrote in depth explanation of the story so I will get to the point. The concept was great, however I found the character development and plot development weak in execution. In short: Here we have Professor Cross, expert in paranormal studies and a self-made recluse, with a crush on his much younger assistant. We have Elizabeth who has secretly desired her professor with a troubled past...sort of. Having been transported back to the 1920s they must find their way home to their own time. Meanwhile in order to survive they acquire jobs to support themselves and shortly thereafter they encounter a vampire. I found that the writing did not convey the suspense of finding and defeating a vampire, the urgency of returning home, or the romance in any impactive way. It made me feel like I was reading a script for an Lifetime Made-for-TV Movie with a paranormal twist. Then someone took the script and sprinkled some extra sex into it. I also found Elizabeth immature at times. By no means horrible but difinitely could have benefited with some creative writing and emotive, believable, dialog. For .99 cents though I can't really complain-I did get my money's worth.
