1.0 out of 5 stars Quick Money Grab, October 4, 2012
This review is from: The Dark Knight Trilogy (Batman Begins / The Dark Knight / The Dark Knight Rises) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
"Warner Bros. Home Entertainment also plans to release "The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition" in 2013."

This is just a quick money grab before they release the real thing, I would definitely wait if you're a Dark Knight fan!

Or wait until 2019 when maybe they'll release a criterion edition of the series?

Any of us could be dead next year, Zod forbid, so I'm going to enjoy movies as they come out! Not spend my life waiting for "something better" to come along.

Not to mention that an Ultimate Collector's edition is likely going to cost significantly more than this product. They're two different products targeting different groups similar to the way you have theatrical and director's cut releases.

It was the same with the Ultimate Collector's Edition of Avatar: that was advertised from the very beginning as well.
I think the most important part is to distinguish between the studios allowing us to double-dip (Avatar, TDK), and the studios forcing us to double dip if we want it all (The Harry Potter film series).

Yea, it's a money grab. So what! Warner Bros. is in business to make money. They'll sell a ton of these too. I've already pre-ordered mine. This collection is great for a couple of reasons. One, it's 5 Blu-ray discs. NO DVD's or Digital/Ultraviolet copies. I can't stand them. Two, it's nice to have all three movies in a collector's case with the 64-page book. I can't wait for mine!
