3.0 out of 5 stars not for 2008 jetta ipod dock, September 5, 2012
This review is from: Soondar® Wireless Bluetooth Music Receiver Adapter for Bose Sounddock (NOT compatible with old generation Sounddock I which CANNOT charge iPhone4) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
i would have assumed it would work within my 2008 jetta ipod dock which is situated within the center console but it did not work. now i haven't tested this with my speaker dock and i want to assume it would work there but if you are getting this for a vehicle then i would think twice...

edit:

this receiver works amazingly. i have used a griffin radio receiver dock (one that you plug in the lighter port) and docked the bluetooth receiver and it works like a charm. i've also tried on a few 30 pin dock speakers and works perfectly as well.

definitely would recommend this for sure

Does your car's iPod dock charge your iPod/iPhone?

In reply to an earlier post on Mar 20, 2013 7:20:39 AM PDT
it does not. im not sure why. but when i dock my iphone 4 straight into the dock in the center console it will not charge at all. this could be because the 30 pin port on the iphone is an updated one from the 2008 dock that was licensed to VW to use in their vehicles. or it's possible that the wattage needed to charge the iphone is much greater than what the dock outputs. i cant confirm since i don't have any other ipod to test with.

now i do have a 30 pin bluetooth audio receiver that i tried using on the dock directly but it wouldnt power it at all, and i can imagine that the receiver requires a lot of power to operate. so that's what brings me to the conclusion that the dock is designed in a way to possibly only work with certain apple products.

it can play audio through the dock without an issue, but no charging unfortunately.
