Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Garcinia Cambogia Extract - 100% Pure Garcinia Cambogia GOLD - 500 mg, 180 Veggie Capsules (Clinically-Proven, Multi-Patented, Water-Soluble SuperCitrimax® 60% HCA Extract for Weight-Loss) (Health and Beauty)
I bought this product after reading the review and because I was gaining weight due to eating in the middle of night.
Garcinia not only helped me with my anxiety and feeling of being "satisfied" with what I ate, but I could tell if helped me with over all state of mind. I really like it and I want to buy another bottle. I can feel I am loosing weight very naturally and I am not even working out.
Definitely a good product. I would just suggest you to buy at lease two bottles, because if you take twice a day, it will only last you 2 weeks.

It's confusing knowing how much to take of this with all the different information out there. The study that Dr. Oz posts on his website showed that 60 obese people lost an average of 14 pounds in 8 weeks. It reads that the participants took 1320 mg of Hydroxycitric Acid (HCA) per day. So if we follow that we need to follow the HCA serving (300 mg) on the label, not the Garcinia Cambogia Extract (GCE) serving. So to get the 1320 mg we would need to take 5 per day equalling 1500 mg. However, it seems other sources don't necessarily point out HCA. I hope that's what it meant in the Dr. Oz article. And that we shouldn't be following the GCE serving which is higher at 500 mg per pill. We then would only need to take 3 pills per day. I imagine the lighter we are the more we will have to take. I'm overweight, but not obese. It's easier for obese people to lose weight.

M. Miller says:
On the bottle it reads "Satiety Dosage": 1 capsule= 500mg "Weight Loss Dosage": 3 capsules=1500mg. I agree we must become educated with supplements, and always consult your physician before starting herbal & OTC medications to review drug interactions. I also saw this product on the Dr. Oz. The mechanism of action of this product is this actually inhibits the production of fat in body, decreases appetite, manages cortisol production, and prevents fat production. So this is a dual action supplementation. And this should be taken on an empty stomach. On the show it also suggested to take 1500mg-3000mg daily or 500-1000mg before meals. I hope this helps.

RS, you can view the episode yourself on Doctor Oz's website. It is shown in 3 parts along with a link for the study information that I pointed out. Dr. Oz said "not more than 3000 mg" a day. So yes, that would mean no more than 6 pills per day. 6 x 500 = 3000 mg. However, the company NutriGold has a totally opposite view. They have their study sources as well. They recommend 3 pills three times a day before meals. I contacted them and asked about that. They said they don't know for sure where Dr. Oz gets his recommendation amounts from, but they are basing their own recommendations based on the studies they have seen.
To be honest, I think Dr. Oz is playing it safe by saying no more than 3000 mg a day. Dr. Chen even did say on the show that better results were seen with "higher dosages." I've decided on Dr. Oz's recommendation of a maximum 3000 mg a day (I take two pills 3 times a day). I'm eating at exactly the one hour mark after taking them. Just take it as soon as you get out of bed, and then write the time down somewhere. (I use an erasable whiteboard where I have my "To Do" list for the day.) It's not as hard as all these people claim it to be. Seems people have trouble taking it ahead of time.
BTW, RS, I just realized you wrote this way back in June (long before the Oz episode). How's it been going? Now that we got you here... would love to hear your progress. Any weight loss?

well, I have not been very consisted, but now that I need to loose at least 10 pounds I am back and would like to take the right amount of it, so I can have a fair judgment. I remember that it helped me with my depression for some reason, it lift up my spirit. Don't think it is a placebo effect. . Thanks for your suggestion, I will definitely do that and then I will report back to you.:)

@RS - Okay, thanks for chiming in. I appreciate that. It helps people with reports like your own. Dr. Chen said these pills increase your serotonin levels--so that is interesting to hear about your decreased depression with GC intake. Best of luck to you. Perhaps we will update each other again some months from now.

I noticed that during the holidays where we eat all the wrong things, I was able to actually loose 2 pounds.
I ate whatever I wanted but in small portions.
Since I started taking 3 pills 3 times before meal in an empty stomach, I have lost 7 pounds. I have to say that I have exercise very little. I ran and walked a little bit.
I started this week with the green coffee extract pills from the same brand as the Garcinia, so I will keep you guys posted about it too.
