1.0 out of 5 stars Will this thing work when you need it ?, May 28, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kaito Voyager Pro KA600 Digital Solar Dynamo Crank Wind Up AM/FM/LW/SW & NOAA Weather Emergency Radio with Alert & RDS, Flashlight and Reading Lamp + Smart Phone Charger, Black (Electronics)
Our family purchased this product last Christmas, and over the course of the last six months we have used the radio in FM mode approximately fifty hours total. Now, for no apparent reason, ALL radio functions, as well as any function requiring the LCD screen, have stopped working. The user manual does not contain a troubleshooting section and offers only the suggestion to remove the batteries for several minutes and then re-install them. After this, "the unit will work normally." Repeated applications of this miracle cure failed to bring the radio back to life.

So, if your looking for an emergency radio that may or may not work when you need it, or just a really expensive LED flashlight, then this is the product for you.

Did you send it back? Decent customer service? Kaito should replace it should they not?

Kaito has a 1 year warranty doesn't it? Why haven't you used the warranty?

I hate to meantion this if you've already checked it, but did you accidently lock the keys? That might explain the problem...

Look beside your power bar indicator-- Do you see a "key" icon? If so, depress your snooze button until it turns off. It's function is explained on page 22 of the manual. HTH!

I experienced the exact same thing!! (I see the comment about key lockout - for other people's sake, I hope that's the case)- However, even before the radio quit working, I was very disappointed in it's inability to pickup much of a signal (i.e. radio stations that came in fine on other radios in the house either barely came in... or weren't there at all on this one) - this was while I was using an additional roll-out antenna that I purchased to *ensure* that I would be able to get the strongest possible signal.
I read a bunch of positive reviews of this radio before I purchased it, and thought I was spending enough money that I should have something functional for it's listed purpose.
