Excellent Read!! Highly Recommended!,
This review is from: Fire Mage (An Epic Fantasy Adventure Series) (Blacklight Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)Fire Mage written by John Forrester is the first book in the Blacklight Chronicles. When their city is attacked by the Jiserian Empire, Talis and Mara find themselves intrusted with a sacred map leading them to a place where Talis can discover his destiny.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced fantasy adventure, great for young readers. It was an easy and entertaining read. I really liked the chemistry between Talis and Mara. They were written together well and even though the book is short you really saw them mature together. I also liked Rikar and the fact that the author lets you know a little bit about him but only enough to keep you wanting more. It really made me want to know his whole story and I'm really excited to see what happens with him.
This book bore a lot of the same elements as other fantasy novels which was both its blessing and its curse. I couldn't help but feel like I had read it all before. But I love fantasy and that's why I keep reading them, because they never let me down. However this was only the first book in the series. I'm curious to see how it all turns out. One other thing that I didn't really care for was where this book ended. It was only mildly suspenseful and I prefer endings that have me dying to read the next one. With this one I was indifferent, I felt like I didn't HAVE to read the next one right away... I felt like I could wait.
I give this book 4 Ravens and think that it would be a really great read for pre-teens and teens.
