Why do all my lyrics sound like Dr. Seuss?,
This review is from: Feel The Steel (Audio CD)
These guys are classic! There is no describing them. They aren't Spinal Tap. They aren't Motley Crue. They aren't Van Halen. They are Steel Panther. Las Vegas perfomers who are EXTREMELY talented at what they do...parodies of the now-almost-defunct Hair Metal of the 80's. Their talent, as far as musicianship goes, is top-notch. These guys can bring it. And their lyrics, while being crass and over-the-top, are relentlessly hilarious. Here are some samples:
The pseudo-love song "Community Property" starts out with "I would give you the stars, but they're too far away." Ha Ha Ha!
That line is followed up with "If suddenly you were a guy, I'd be suddenly gay." Ha Ha Ha! Classic!
And all the while, some sweet, 12-String Acoustic Guitar "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" style music is playing.
Or how about "Fat Girl"?
"I know you're hungry
I can see it in your eyes
'Cuz you're looking at me
Like I'm a side of fries"
Freakin' hilarious. And the music is straight jammin'! Exceptional solos, excellent vocals, thundering drums. These guys are the real deal gone funny!
If you can get past the seriousness of life and understand what these guys are trying to do, you'll be pleased beyond contentment.
Being an old 80's guitarist from the 70's and 80's, I can tell you that these guys may have inspired me to start up my own parody band!
GO STEEL PANTHER!
