GOOD NEWS -- FOX DECIDES TO RELEASE THE REMAINING SEASONS,
This review is from: The Mary Tyler Moore Show: The Complete Series (DVD)Several weeks ago I made a call to the office of the president of Fox Home Entertainment. I suggested they check out the comments here and see how many fans of the show they were alienating with their "strategy" to release the box set of the series, forcing loyal fans of the show to pay a second time for seasons 1 -4. Today I received a call from a VP at FHE informing me that this was all a miscommunication and that they would first release the remaining seasons of MTM Show and then see if there was a need for a box set. She said they were very pleased with how the individual seasons had sold and didn't want to upset the loyal fans of the show. While I had her I also asked about the remaining seasons of the Bob Newhart Show and she said they'd also be releasing that, although she didn't have firm dates for any of this. She said Amazon is scrambling to change the posting for this release.

I have been irritated as HECK about the delay in releasing the remaining MTM seasons! Thank you very much for being on top of the issue and doing something about it. Thank you to everyone who has complained! I will be very glad to add seasons 5-7 to my collection.

It's great that you were able to actually speak with someone a Fox. My question is, if seasons 5-7 are going to be released before a complete-series box set, then why are we writing these comments on an MTMS Complete Series board? Where are the individual seasons listed on Amazon? Answer is, seasons 5-7 aren't listed on Amazon. I assume they did this on information provided by Fox, and not on some whim of a web site administrator over there. And I am also going to assume that Amazon has better contacts than any of us could reach by calling Fox. So, until I see Amazon offering pre-orders for individual seasons 5-7, I am going to assume you got lied to. Don't feel bad. It's now officially taken Fox longer to release the whole series than it did to PRODUCE the whole series. I don't think I'll be pre-ordering anything any time soon.

If they will be releasing seasons 5-7 rather than the complete series, that's great. BUT... I have to tell you, I was waiting anyway because I like the later seasons better than the earlier ones, and suspected they might bring out the whole series in a single set at a cheaper rate per season than individually. Hey...it's the way media works, folks. They sell higher priced versions at first, then gradually do them for the people who want the item less intensely. I agree you should complain if they dribble them out slowly and then skip to the complete series, but you should not be TOO surprised... This is kind of like buying a house with an ARM and thinking the interest rate will never go up, or buying a house at a high price and thinking it could never go down--yes, you can get stuck. Buyer beware, be cautious, be slow to buy. Let the sellers come down to reality, be tougher to sell to in the first place, and we'll all be better off.

Thanks for the "update," but I will believe it when I see it.

DL, after reading your post I was very encouraged and decided to follow your lead. I googled "phone number for president of Fox Home Entertainment". I used this number, 310-369-3900, that I obtained from Businessweek , http://investing.businessweek.com/researc
"Unfortunately, we do not have a release date on any other seasons of "The Mary Tyler Moore" and "The Big Valley" to be available any time soon. You may check back in the near future.
So, I guess you'll just have to decide for yourself as to whether or not Fox is just telling people what they want to hear. Personally, I'm checking out IOffer.

Thank you for your diligence. I am also quite eager to get my hands on the remaining seasons (especially since I sat in the audience for a taping of one of the shows in Season Five).
Do you have an e-mail address for FOX? Perhaps we can write them and help "speed up the process"?

That's exciting! What was your studio experience like?!
Also, I'm really, really pleased to hear that they may be releasing the subsequent seasons on DVD! Besides that, the price is right, thanks to Amazon! Had the price not been merely $13.49, I wouldn't have been able to get the seasons. Better hurry everyone; you never know when the price will go back up if they release the last three seasons on DVD!

DL in LA: No further updates since your original post 6 weeks ago? You say that Amazon is scrambling, but I haven't seen any changes.
