I love Kathleen Tessaro. Just love her. Her books are witty, smart, tell great stories, and let you just immerse yourself in her world. The Debutante tells the murky story of several people trying to escape their old lives, and create something new. In the midst of this enters a historical figure of a woman who was a social butterfly right before WWII, and a family home that is being emptied and needs to be cleared out. There is a mysterious element as the stories overlap each other, and yet somehow by the end, it all gets worked out nicely. A quick and enjoyable read for anyone interested in pre-WWII society, or anything with a bit of romance and a bit of mystery.

Beautifully written. Kathleen spins a mystery that keeps you on edge to the very end. Four stories for the price of one: Irene, Baby, Cate and Jack, all tied nicely together fom the 1900s through to the present. Love the ending.
