This review is from: The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich (Expanded and Updated) (Hardcover)
This book illustrated just what is necessary in terms of setting up a business that you don't have to be on premises for. I rarely follow anything step by step so I took the parts that made the most sense to me and incorporated into my own business that I am starting up. His complete overview was all needed to get hope and get started but the second read through exposed some of the details that really restored my vision and helped me feel like "I am going to this". Independence is no longer a secret.
I think haters will always say that the things in this book don't work but I can see how the ideas about outsourcing at a smaller scale can help the little guy get bigger in business. On the other hand, I spend my money in the American community and as soon as I am able to build a business that is very profitable, I will hire people who reside on American soil and pay taxes here. I will redirect opportunity to my own countrymen that will help me get rich. \
The book forced me to rethink my idea of "Gee, I can't afford to buy a $100K car, I don't have 100K for that". Well I showed me how to start thinking of affording the car on a monthly basis. I still won't buy one yet but at least now my thinking has been modified to view the problem differently.
Since he is like a serial "doer", he helped me unleash the serial doer in me. He convinced me that I should chase my dreams and yes, create a financial future so that I can pursue life instead of just existing. My wage slavery is about to end.
The most important lesson learned is "Stop doing it all myself". That has been my downfall for years. I have always taken pride in learning how to do anything and everything on my own from writing code, doing my own books to changing toilets. I have now taken my leadership abilities seriously and am into smart delegation with an end in mind.
There are more things that I liked about this book but I think it is just good idea that you to discover what parts work for you.
