Movement stopped in just two months (or less),
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Skagen Men's 906XLTBB Titanium Titanium Chronograph Watch (Watch)
This Skagen watch stopped telling the time just two months after I got it. Chrono still works, meaning that the movement is stuck. Even after a change of battery, the problem persists. Just a week ago, the return window ended on my item so I passed it to a local boutique to examine. They said they are sending it to a service centre and I am still awaiting a reply.
It was used anyway... I would never have had the chance to send it back even though it was in perfect condition (save the mechanical malfunction). I was very disappointed that just when I thought this was a reliable watch, it broke down and the time just stopped. It was way more affordable on Amazon, and I am lucky I bought it on Amazon because I have to now get it repaired at a boutique locally. The second hand did not move and neither did the hour hand. I cannot believe this is happening, because here the watch is sold at about 400USD. Something of that level should not spoil, definitely not in two months! I really like the watch and its design, but after this experience I will not buy another Skagen.
I would suggest that those who want a reliable watch get a Swiss Made watch with a good movement. I have a Luminox watch which (though more expensive) has a chronograph and tells really accurate time. Yes, I bumped the Luminox once and caused its chronograph to be knocked out of position. But at least I could fix the problem myself and all was fine after that. The Luminox also has a really good basic RONDA movement which (this shows) is more reliable. What is most amazing about my whole experience is that I purposely babied the Skagen because I read up Amazon reviews about how fragile the clasp was and so on. It still has absolutely no scratches and damage, and I often wore the Luminox when I feel the Skagen might be pushed to its limits.
I also have a few Swatch automatic watches. They were not plasticky like the Luminox (which I still love) and made of nice Stainless Steel. Better still, for that price range it was amazing that the Swatch is a skeleton that lets you see inside of it. And even better still, it was automatic unlike my Luminox! But all in all, get a Swiss Made watch if you want it to last.
