This review is from: Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 (Hardcover)
This book provided insight into experiences most of us can't even imagine much less live through. I am grateful that Marcus Luttrell took the time and effort to tell his story and that of his SEAL teammates. Without stories like these, we may not have any idea what really goes on in the conflicts America is currently involved in. I read a few of the one star reviews because I was shocked that anyone would rate it as such- I can't even relate to how they feel. This is someone who lived through hell and acted with profound bravery, and with the good forture/grace of god/whatever you may believe, was able to live through this to show respect for people he would die for- to all Americans who he almost died for, and give us some idea of the enemy we are up against and the bravery fought by our men and women in the military. I am very grateful.
I especially appreciated his opinion about the media. He was right about the stories reporting presumptions as facts that had no regard for the truth nor the effects on the family. I have seen this with the reporting on Walter Reed- forget all the importance that has happened in that miraculous hospital and go for the big story making it up as you go along. What happened to integrity in journalism? But that's another story.
Thank you Marcus Luttrell, for telling your story.
