This was a very good book for someone who has never attended college or is returning to college after a long hiatus. A good overview about how to improve your scores and performance by applying good practices. It is easy to read and presented in a modular format, so if the reader only has to read the sections interesting to him/her.
I think the tips regarding time management and course content management will be especially useful for the first time college student because so much of effective studying is related to figuring out what material you HAVE to know (for a test or paper) and to focus on what the teacher cares about, thus avoiding "spinning your wheels" by identifying key concepts.
This is not a book for elementary or middle schoolers - it is really meant for someone who is working independently on papers, research and preparing for more advanced coursework. I am sure there are middle schoolers who could benefit but the concepts are really more appropriate for the more mature student.
The author does state that reading the book would be good for parents of elementary school children and middle schoolers.
