Something for everyone!,
This review is from: Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body (Paperback)
I am a 22 year old college student, and I loved this book.
If you are a female and you live on this planet you should read Weightless. If you are or have struggled with an eating disorder, if you know someone that has an eating disorder, or if you are just dealing with the daily societal pressures of body image that every woman has to live with, you can benefit from this book. Weightless helps you to step back and take a breather from seeing everything from the world's perspective, and seeing the freedom of loving yourself the way that God loves you.
I love how Kate Wicker shares a lot of personal stories from her life- from the time she was a child to now, as a mom- and her struggle through an eating disorder as a young woman and how she sought true healing in God.
A lot of books about body image focus on either solely the practical, or solely the spiritual. I like that this book gives a lot of attention to both.
One more thing that I really liked about it is the length. I like that it has a lot of content, but the chapters are manageable and you can take it a few pages at a time and not spend like a year trying to get through it. It was great for a working college student like myself :)
