This album has great arrangements, which have obviously gained the approval of the hardcore salseros, but there is a lack of originality here. Its another tribute album, music that has been rerecorded during the past decade by groups such as Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Soneros del barrio and Son cafe to name a few. As much as I love Salsa's 70's era, it seems like we are still stuck there 40 years later. How about new lyrical material with musical arrangements such as these for a change (without the Ruben Blades and Justo Betancourt imitations). It worked well for the Jose Lugo Orchestra.

I appreciate your review and I agree. With SPANISH LATIN ORCHESTRA we have more than enough with maestro OSCAR HERNANDEZ. I guess many people forgot the saying from RICHIE RAY "HAY QUE BUSCA UN FORMA DE SER SIEMRPE DIFERENTE". Is very sad that people follow trends and dont strive to have their own sound. Yet, when someone has a HIT or a GRAMMY everyone follows like sheep. I miss the 70s. It was a time for genious and true originality. Also all the arrangers from the 70s are still alive and doing NOTHING, so why not use em to create a new style or a mixture from what was done then with original material. A good example is RICHIE RAY and RAY BARRETTO. Both orchestras had 2 trumpets and were completely different.
