1.0 out of 5 stars Tell the true story, January 19, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Lee Daniels' The Butler (Amazon Instant Video)
I didn't like wasting my time on this fiction. It said based on a true story yet they gave him an extra son, had his father killed, and made his wife an adulterer and an alcohlic. This good man had the right to TRUTH about his life.

You are quite correct.
Yet, "Hollywoodland" cannot tell the truth about ANYTHING, certainly not this movie, Nelson Mandela and Ghandi to name a few.
Truth and objectivism is boring, offensive and does not create the desired sensationalized effect to make (credulous and unassuming) people empty out their pockets to support the capitalists, and no religion has been able to help humanity with --- you know, the stuff most Americans and people crave; "decadence and fiction."

It's not based on a true story but actually inspired by a true story.
