Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ivation JID0216GRN Big Oversized Digital Green LED Calendar Clock with Day and Date (Green) (Electronics)
When you read reviews from everyone about this product, you will wonder if they are talking about different products... and you would be right. Some reviews say you cannot dim the LED lights. You cannot dim the one with the red LED lights, you CAN dim the one with the green or blue LED lights. That is stated in the descriptions of this product. You need to pay attention when you read and then decide to purchase. Some reviews also say that there is a leading zero in front of the time. I have the 16 inch green LED product, and I assure you there is no leading 0 in front of any numbers ever. As this photo shows, 9:34 in the morning displays as 9:34, NOT 09:34. I do recommend the green LED color simply because the green wavelength focuses more properly into your eye. The red lights and the blue lights do have a slight off focus appearance, not because of any defect with the product, but because those colors are at the extreme end of the color spectrum that our eyes are capable of seeing. The eye with its optical aberrations do not focus the red or blue light on to the retina as precisely as does the green which is more close to the center of the color spectrum (green/yellow). The LED light IS very bright and I have selected the middle brightness setting for my use. This product is excellent and does everything that they claim. It has a very solid feel and appears to be of very good quality.

THANK YOU so much for your review. I've been reading reviews and descriptions all over the place trying to find out the height of the numbers. Can you kindly share the measurements of the digits.... thank you.

Did you ever receive an answer to your question about the height of the numbers and letters on the DB Tech 16" digital calendar/time unit? If so, I would appreciate knowing myself.

So sorry to respond so late. I never received a notice with this request and just happened to come across it now. The time is 2 1/4 inches tall, the date is 1 1/2 inches tall. This should help others who may be considering this purchase.

Actually, on the RED display, you can dim it. There is a button on the bottom. I have mine at the lowest brightness and is quit readable day or night!

I am so confused, one person says that the red display cannot be dimmed and another says that it can. if all the colors have the same features, then why are there such differences in price? The green display is around 30 bucks more than the red, why? Where in the item description does it say that the red can't be dimmed, " you CAN dim the one with the green or blue LED lights. That is stated in the descriptions of this product." I have read and re-read the description several times trying to find in writing what the differences are due to the price differences. Can you please explain? I'd really like to have this clock, but to pay $90. just for a green display, is silly!

Serenity,

The reason for the price discrepancies is due to the seller. Ivation manufactures the product, however in this case a non-affiliated seller, "DBROTH" is who ultimately sets the prices. The variations could be for numerous reasons (remaining supply, sells statistics, market research, etc.), but not based on the inherit value of the product; as you say, $90 just for a green display is silly! :)
