5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Converter For A Projector or Receiver using HDMI, November 30, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mediasonic HW180STB HomeWorx HDTV Digital Converter Box with Media Player Function, Dolby Digital and HDMI Out (Electronics)
Just purchased this after buying the awful Channel Master CM-7001 (junk) over the summer. I have a Denon X4000 receiver which feeds my Epson 5020UB projector. Not only is the interface great, I set the sound to RAW and get Dolby Digital which feeds my receiver. It sounds spectacular. And it's $80 cheaper than the CM 7001. Which had terrible sound through the HDMI. If you run a projector and/or run through a receiver via HDMI, get this. At $40, it's a no brainer.

Similar set up here.

I've got a Yamaha Receiver and a Viewsonic Projector, I had always thought the Coaxial port in the back of my receiver was for a TV Turner but turns out it was for an FM radio when I went to plug in an HD antenna. Just picked up one of these.

Thanks for the heads up.

AMRJS says:
That depends on universal remote capability, your epson projector manual or online community may know more about universal remotes.

As for Cable to this box - no. These boxes are not replacements to encrypted digital set top boxes, check out HD Home Run's offerings if you want to replace the costly force feed cable box. This is purely for either making old TVs work with new Antenna regulations, or for provided HDMI out for owners of projectors or other devices with no RF in device.

In short, you ask a lot of questions and only the no go cable is able to be answered by us.

Does the converter box display a signal strength that the antennas are receiving?
