LOVE THE MOVIE BUT THIS 50TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE IS A DISAPPOINTMENT,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Funny Face (50th Anniversary Edition) (DVD)
The movie is wonderful! And I have the first DVD that came out. When I saw there was a 50th Anniversary Edition I was thrilled, hoping, or let's say, expecting to have extra features as many 'anniversary editions' often offer. So I ordered the DVD sight unseen before its release. That was a mistake! The extras are boring and the featurette of Paramount can be found on other DVDs. A pity - they had a chance to honor the work of Kay Thompson, the work of Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn, even some commentaries on the making of the film, information on photographer Richard Avedon....too bad.

I agree. For a 50th Anniversary edition, the extras are very skimpy. But the image quality is greatly improved from the earlier DVD.

Really, the picture quality is better? I was very disappointed with the earlier transfer, as Paramount has been known to restore most of it's older movies, or at least make sure they look good. I love the movie, and thought such a poor transfer was disgraceful to it. Paramount is always skimpy with it's special features, which is aggravating in itself.

Hi, I was very happy to read about the 50th edition having no special extras. If it wasn't for you pointing that out I would have thought there was more.
Thank You for your review.

Nearly ordered the 50th anniversary edition to replace the earlier DVD incarnation of a long-time favorite, expecting significant improvements on the transfer. Will have to wait but, thank you.

I haven't viewed the original DVD, but I am AMAZED how beautiful and intense the colours are on the 50th Anniversary addition. It's a PRISTINE PRINT which makes this movie look better than I've ever seen it before.
