1.0 out of 5 stars Consider this a $-Saving tip: Pass this book up!, July 8, 2007
This review is from: 21 Pounds in 21 Days: The Martha's Vineyard Diet Detox (Hardcover)
I ordered this after falling for the whole nurturing "Dr. Roni" thing on Sirius with Robin Quivers. After spending over $200.00 for my "kit" and reading the entire accompanying manual, it seems you require ingesting some "enzymes" several times a day -- reportedly a very important part of this. Unfortunately, the "kit" does not include them, and you're left on your own to find them, buy them, ask what they are, etc. The shakes are not satisfying and taste horrendous -- apple, berry, tomato -- it doesn't matter -- all bad. Most of all, you are on your OWN. Roni DeLuz &/or her people don't feel the need to respond to emails with legitimate questions/concerns customers may have once you've paid. Unless she lives in your house and you pay her the big bucks to follow you around, my feeling is this "diet" is smoke & mirrors. Too difficult to do on your own; save yourself the $ and either starve yourself for free or do a more realistic diet a working person can implement into their life.

Sorry you feel this is too difficult to do on your own. You can just go to the grocery store and buy some juice to do the cleanse. Any juice is better than not doing a cleanse.

The green juices are to give you maximum nutrition to heal.

Do not have a defeatist attitude. You are only cheating yourself.

I can't imagine you think that the author is obligated to answer all your questions. What other author does? She is really busy and trying to help a lot of people.

I beg to differ. I sent the author of the Raw food detox a question or two and she answered me. So authors who care will respond.

Natural enzymes derived from papaya fruit are readily available and do a great job of assisting the body w/ digestion!

Just go to Whole Foods or Vitamin Cottage and ask for enzymes. No big deal.

Wow I really love this book. I think it gives great info on detox, what to expect mentally , emotionally, spiritually.....As someone who already know a lot about detox I just kind of subbed other things, for example I took a detox kit and all of it's supplements that address removing toxins from all the different body systems, used noni and gogi or acai as a super food drink, made green smoothies(green for life has many recipes), juiced vegies with a tiny bit of fruit(I think Naked Juices as someone suggested are too sweet to use) and I did garlic salt or Mrs Dash for spice flavor in soups. Sorry you had such a bad experience. Maybe contacting a colon hydrotherapist would have helped you. She recommends 3 in the 21 day.
Better luck next time:)

I know this comment was posted in 2007, but it is now 2012, and it seems that things have changed! Dr. Roni and James have a Facebook "Fan" page, where Dr. Roni personally answers every question that people post. You can tell that she really cares about people, and she cares that they are able to understand the program in order to get healthy.

I had absolutely no problem finding Digestive Enzymes at my nearby Whole Foods; my mom also is doing the detox (we're on day 10 and have both lost 10 lbs so far) and doesn't have a Whole Foods but was able to find them at her local health food store.

Having already lost 10 pounds and only being halfway done with the detox, I can easily say this is not a "smoke and mirrors" diet.

Also, a note on the taste of the drinks - again, things may have changed since 2007 - but they are not at all horrible! I actually really enjoy them, it's not like I'm just stomaching them.

Hi! I just bought this book and I'm having trouble understanding exactly what I'm supposed to do as far as the diet goes. Is there any way you could break it down for me? I'm desperate to shed some weight!

Where I live, we don't have those stores. I just bought this book but I'm having trouble completely understanding what I'm supposed to do and where to get the materials

You might try Amazon, I order my papaya enzymes here.
Haven't tried this detox or purchased the book though.
