3.0 out of 5 stars Not a universal plug size, November 23, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mediabridge Toslink Cable (6 Feet) - Optical Digital Audio Cable (Personal Computers)
Although this cable will work well once it is connected, be aware that the plug is larger than most toslink cables and may be too large to fit into the optical socket of your particular device. This cable will NOT fit Panasonic DMP-BDT210 Blu-ray players; it WILL fit most a/v receivers.

Hello from Mediabridge,

Unfortunately Toslink ports are not universally the same. We did have another style of Toslink cable that we were manufacturing that was a little smaller and ended up being too loose when used with some devices. The problem is not this cable but the Toslink technology in general. Ports vary greatly and can come with a door that opens up, that opens down, in the middle, no door at all... the differences are many. This cable will fit with the most possible devices we could design it for.

Thanks,

What optical digital audio cable did you find that works with your Panasonic DMP-BDT210? I bought a similar model and don't want to buy a cable that doesn't work.

Monoprice toslink cable, product id 1419, will definitely fit the Panasonic DMP-BDT210. You can find this cable at Monoprice.com.

I have read the comments regarding differing Toslink sizes.

All I can say is I have this cable and the Panasonic Blu Ray player and the cable fits very securely. I have to pull quite firmly to remove it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Mediabridge! I am just dealing with the same issue--my TOSLINK cable fit my "sending" unit just fine, but was too big to seat properly in my "receiving" unit. This made no sense to me, but I had no idea that there was variability in the TOSLINK spec. Geez, what sense does it make to have an "industry standard" that doesn't have one standard spec?!
