To be quite honest I wasn't a die hard Nicki Minaj fan. I really didn't enjoy any of her mixtapes except for tracks she got hood on and songs she featured on. Then when that "Bottom's Up" track came out I was like yea she's officially crazy. So I previewed the album before it came out and I was shocked. This is actually a decent album to me for her. Although I still can't stand the "your love" song and "can't believe it" has finally grown on me a little. She has a very ecentric style and this seems to show it well. I know this album is more pop than anything but isn't majority of the music like that nowadays. I mean you even have artists that are known for their gritty and edgy gangsta rap styles making songs with a pop sound. I guess if you can't beat em join em right? Lyrically Nicki Minaj is tough. She's got skills there's no denying that. Plus when you look at what she's been thru I tip my hat to the girl. Gives me hope things won't always stay the same. She's like all of my favorite female rap artists rolled into one. You may not like her music but at least she made something different. I guranteee if she woulda came out with a more tougher sounding album like Lil' Kim's debut everybody would complain "oh she just tryna act hard or she still jockin Kim style again". I won't say this album is for everyone because I even see die hard fans that were listening to her from day one saying this is weak. So I'd suggest listen to it for yourself and then make your decision. For me, I like it.
