Adele will take your breathe away....again.,
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Adele Live At The Royal Albert Hall (DVD/CD) (DVD)
I was able to preview this and it is with pleasure that I call myself one of the biggest Adele fans ever. It is almost impossible to find someone you don't know that makes you feel as if though they took the words right out of your mouth and put them in song. She said that she concentrated on making music for the ears, not the eyes, but in this video, you're clearly able to see that the eyes get a treat as well- she is breathtaking.
In a modern age, where concerts rely on special effects, pyro, dancers, and theatrics, Adele manages to achieve the same results one would get from such shows by just having a backing band, 2 background singers, and a stool- her voice IS the show! I will be honest, I was worried about Adele having so many throat problems while on tour and when she had surgery in early summer, I was expecting a drastic notice in her voice. You do hear her throat a little scratchy in the dvd/cd but the "imperfections" only managed to bring more truth to the songs.
It should be in everyone's bucket list to catch an Adele show- I guarantee she is not to be missed!

But she just had her throat surgery only about 5 or 6 weeks ago. So this DVD/concert was before she had surgery.

Yea but she'd been sick for quite a while. She had postponed her first US leg because of an infection, filmed this, then had surgery. It sucks.

She had the surgery after they filmed this concert. I was worried about what her voice would be like after the surgery, but when she performed at the Grammys last month I was so happy to discover that her voice is better than ever; in fact, it sounds much smoother and like she doesn't have to strain as much (also a little higher, which is interesting). I read a recent interview with her in Vogue where she said that singing feels so much easier and more effortless now. She used to worry about "whether I could hit that note," but now she doesn't have to worry because her throat is 100% healthy now. You go, girl!

I am an old guy, and as a long time fan of R&B going back to the 60's, I say Adele is one of the greats. She is genius. It is indeed the way she takes words from a failed relationship that we all have thought about and put them to song in a haunting, but also uplifting way. She is the greatest artist of the 21st century.

This is a phenomenal packaging of DVD and CD. I never tire of listening to the CD or watching the DVD. My kids have the numbers for "Set Fire to the Rain" and "Rumor Has It' memorized so when we're driving, they just keep clicking back and forth between the 2 songs. My all time favorite is 'Right as Rain'...there's just something about that song that's uplifting in spite of her asking him to 'just go'. My only wish is that 'He Won't Go' should have been part of this compilation. Adele Rocks! Sheer genius without all of the theatrics and auto-tuning!
