Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oster 4208 Inspire Electric Wine Opener with Wine Chiller, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
I bought this for a Christmas gift and we left it charging for 24 hours and it still did not have enough strenght to pull out a cork which we tried on both regular a cork and the type waxed cork. It would not fully charge. The light was still red after 24 hours, but we still tried it anyways. I will be returning it

Angelgirl, looking at the manual, I can't find that there's anything about the light color changing when charged; only to charge it for up to 8 hours before using. Also, it doesn't pull the cork- you do. It only screws into the cork (and reverses to detach from the cork) I charged it for closer to 10-12 hours to be safe, and used it on a bottle without any problem.

It sounds as though your frustration was based on your human error and not on the product. You may want to update or delete your review.

I didn't mean that it pulled the cork out completely, I just meant that once the screw went in & I pulled the unit up the screw part came right out of the cork. It did not stay attached to the cork! That was NOT human error!

But surely that's not the device's fault. The screw is just a screw, and either penetrates the cork properly or it doesn't. If you used a conventional cork screw, wouldn't that then happen as well? I'm not trying to upset you; I'm just considering your situation and evaluating the device's role in it. Peace, angelgirl. :^)

Well, all I know it that I did end up returning the Oster brand and purchased another and so far I have not had any problems. The new one was more power and charges up completely in 8 hours. If the Oster works for you then that is great but I was just posting my experiance with that item.

Honestly, I've used it once so far, so we'll see where I end up in time. Thanks for your feedback and Happy Holidays.

Which one did you end up buying if not an Oster brand?

I'd like to clear up something. There is no pulling involved. You push the lower part of the opener button, the corkscrew screws into the cork then, while still holding the button down, it automatically withdraws the cork up into the body of the machine. You then push the upper part of the button and the machine moves the cork out of the body. That simple. This machine has never failed me.
