Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own (Hardcover)
I've always been a bit scared of Mme Garcia. She has impeccable taste and isn't shy about it - if something doesn't work, she's not going to sugar coat it.
When I'm in NY, I'm extra careful about what I wear for fear of seeing Nina and being deemed dowdy.
Which is why I was so surprised at `The One Hundred.'
Nina talks to the reader like a friend. It's as though I tweeted her and said, `Nina, I'm trying to build a wardrobe of classic pieces. What should I buy?'
And she responded with a very thorough list, complete with tips on how to style the items and some history behind each piece. My favorite bits are the inspirational quotes she chooses for each piece, especially the Chanel ones.
This book is for:
The woman who wants to feel classic.
The woman who feels her closet is missing pieces, but doesn't really know what to buy
The wannabe fashion buff who likes reading about when ballet flats were invented (think Brigitte Bardot)
I bought the ebook, but I kind of wish I had gone for the hard copy. It's the kind of book you'll want to mark up with wish lists, style ideas, etcetera.
I want to read her other books, `The Little Black Book of Style' and `Nina Garcia's Look Book.'
