1.0 out of 5 stars Unsubstantiated Claims and Thinly Veiled Propaganda, September 3, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Final Prophecies (Amazon Instant Video)
As I write this review there are four existing reviews, each four-stars and exclaiming you *must* see this video. Admittedly I viewed the documentary with a skeptical mindset. I am not religious and do not believe in any gods.

I found nothing credible in the documentary to substantiate the dramatic claims. I would not recommend this video as a methodical, scientific, historical approach to the subject. As I viewed the video, I took notes and researched the people interviewed and the "evidence" revealed. I found nothing of merit in any of the additional sources on the web that refer to the people in the video nor to the sources which repeat similar claims.

So I would say if you are a christian fundamentalist with firmly-held beliefs that more or less line up with the claims of this video, you will want to watch this and it will reenforce your beliefs. On the other hand if you are in any way a skeptic about these beliefs already, and you are looking for solid, credible, impartial research, you will not find anything of value in this video.

You say "if you are in any way a skeptic about these beliefs already, and you are looking for solid, credible, impartial research, you will not find anything of value in this video." Wow what a lie. I was total skeptic before watching this film and this is the best prophecy movie I have ever seen and really makes you think about what is real. There's a difference between being a skeptic and being in denial, which you obviously are.

I agree with you. This film was a piece of propaganda GARBAGE...a bunch of religious literalists desperate to prove that the Bible is an accurate historical record (and not metaphor/fable) and that it is the absolute word of God. The so called "science" contained in the film was laughable. When are people going to realize that God doesn't write books, people do.

C Beck says:
"Your time within this world is passing away, and everyday you are making a choice. A choice to seek the truth or reject it. A choice to pursue eternal life, or the choice to pass away with the world you love so much." From the film, The Final Prophecies. This is the last comment said at the end of the movie. If you watched the whole movie, and all you got out of it was "it's propaganda", the you have probably made your choice. And you might want to re-watch to see what prophecy says about those who think the way you do. I pray that there is still time left for God to work in your heart, and you aren't one of those who has been given over to believe the lie.

C Beck says:
It's true, faith is a powerful force. Mine gives me hope in something better than what this world has to offer. Yours gives you something. But whether you believe in a God unseen, or a whole universe created by chance to bring us to this very moment, they both require faith. If your choice is made and your heart hardened so that you can only criticize others beliefs, good luck with that.

Wow! The one honest non-hysterical objective review and its caused all sorts of hurt feelings and projections unto the nature of the reviewer's soul. I guess those must come from all of the religious eschatology followers. For all of those who think the reviewer is in denial I would remind you that this is a review process and he has made reasonable objective opinion. If you watch the film and somehow come away believing all it seems to reveal that in no way minimizes his objective rational and reasonable opinion of the film.

Well - your somewhat vitriolic reaction to this film really just goes to show. . . that everyone's different. You have a very constraining and narrow-minded attitude when it comes down to it. There is at the very LEAST, compelling information from research done into ancient civilisations and what they somehow were 'aware' of, from all over the world, that gives validity to the contents of the film. To airily dismiss as fantasy is so simple. You in fact are being somewhat simple. At least keep an open mind
